Mark Knopfler is a British musician who fronted Dire Straits. He is a guitar virtuoso and praised for his knowledge of rock, blues, and folk styles. He studied the greats such as B.B. King, Elvis Presley, Django Reinhardt, and Chet Atkins and began playing finger-picked guitar after college. He formed Dire Straits in 1977 and became one of the best-selling bands of all time. After his daughter, Issy, was born, he broke up the band to be a solo act. He has released nine solo albums and done film scores. He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his contributions to music.
Issy is Mark Knopfler's daughter and Kitty Aldridge's mother. She is an actress in her 20s and works as a producer.
