The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival was a band consisting of brothers John and Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. John Fogerty was the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter, while Tom Fogerty was his older brother. Sadly, Tom contracted AIDS and died in 1990. Stu Cook, the bass guitarist, later formed Creedence Clearwater Revisited. Doug Clifford, the drummer, later released a solo album and joined Stu Cook in the Don Harrison Band.

Has CCR Ever Had a #1 Song?

CCR has multiple top ten hits and songs on the Billboard Top 100, but none of their songs have ever hit #1. However, in July 2021, CCR's song Have You Ever Seen the Rain became their first-ever #1 song on any Billboard music charts, thanks to the changing music industry and new purchasing avenues.

What Happened to CCR?

John Fogerty, the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter, developed a controlling and demanding attitude in the band. Tom Fogerty left in 1971, and the remaining members, Stu and Doug, separated. Fans hope for a reunion, but it's unlikely. Fogerty missed the opportunity to reunite at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, leaving Doug and Stu feeling disappointed.
