Tears for Fears is an English band that was part of the Second British Invasion, founded by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith in 1981. Ian Stanley was a full-time band member for the first two albums, and wrote Everybody Wants to Rule the World with producer Chris Hughs.
The song was a last-minute addition to Songs from the Big Chair and was the most straightforward on the album, with Chris Hughs describing the effortless recording process as bland compared to Shout.
Sport Aid created the Race Against Time to raise money for famine relief in Africa and released Everybody Wants to Run the World, which peaked at #5 on the UK singles chart.
